Superdock

The product

The SuperDock

A SuperDock is an urban quay that offers all the urban facilities that you could think of, and at the same time creating a subsea residence for fish, seashells, algae, and other animals in the ocean. SuperDock is created from upcycled maritime metal, and thus is nearly climate neutral in production and material use. The SuperDock is Nordic Circles first (of many) regenerative products that increase biodiversity while solving real problem for cities worldwide.

 Installation

SuperDock is a quay front element mounted directly on existing quay facilities, or as the front of a new development project where the SuperDock becomes the new quay in itself.

SuperDock can be mounted at almost any coastal front.

Economy

The SuperDock is made in the same price range as alternative products. It’s not more expensive to order a SuperDock, than to create a traditional waterfront in urban areas.

 Why biodiversity and upcycling?

UN sustainable development goal (SDG) 14- Life below water, is the least implemented of all the UN´s sustainable goals worldwide. At the same time, the seas are put forward as the biggest measure to deal with the climate crisis we are in. SDG 12, responsible consumption and production is the second least implemented goal in the world. Superdock ™, deals with two of the most important goals, that have the least attention worldwide, and presents one concrete solution to what a village, a city or a developer can do to actively achieve the goals.

The Taxonomy

SuperDock is an example of how to work with the EU taxonomy!

If an activity or a project is to be classified by the new EU-taxonomy as sustainable, it has to fulfil certain criterias:

 1)     Contribute significantly to at least one of six environmental goals:

a)              Limiting climate change

b)             Climate adaptation

c)              Sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources

d)             Transformation to a circular economy

e)              Prevention and control of pollution

f)               Protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems

2)     Don’t harm any of the other goals

3)     Adhere to guiding principles for responsible business

The SuperDock ansvers to all of the criteria of the taxonomy
